Monaco are plotting a £15m summer raid for Manchester City’s Carlos Tevez, according to reports from The Mirror.
The Argentine striker has been long-linked with a move away from the Premier League champions, with fallings out with manager Roberto Mancini and other off-field disputes frequent occurrences.
Monaco have reportedly been interested in the 29-year-old for some time, and are planning to make him their marquee signing at the end of the season.
Currently first in Ligue 2, the Mediterranean side look to be on course for a return to the top tier of French football, and are keen to establish themselves as a genuine force.
Backed by Russian billionaire Dmitry Rybolovlev, Monaco have the financial clout to pull off an audacious move, and could tempt Tevez with a potentially lucrative contract.
Since being relegated in 2011, the club’s hierarchy have invested over £30m in the squad, brining in the likes of Nabil Dirar from Club Brugge and one time City target Lucas Ocampos.
Although Tevez is regarded as a key first-team player at the Etihad Stadium, Mancini could be tempted to sell as he plots a summer overhaul of his squad.
The Italian has been critical of his striker force in recent weeks, and has already sold Mario Balotelli earlier this year.
With targets such as Edinson Cavani and Radamel Falcao, City will need to clear space in their squad and reduce their wage bill to fund swoops.
